When will Gmail come out of beta!

I used to be a big supporter of gmail for the features it provides. I was totally addicted to the threading, and their pop+smtp support. They have some really cool (and useful) features, like the outgoing mail from smtp server will be added to the thread, popped emails will be archived instead of deleted, etc. My primary email (off dwipal.com domain) was being routed to the gmail account. However, gmail has always been plagued by realibility issues, which, even though I hoped will be resolved soon, are still there even after almost a year of usage.

Their pop and smtp servers go down a lot.
Emails get delayed, sometimes by hours.
I am not sure about this, but some friends claim to have sent me an email which i never received.

So i got off gmail till these things get resolved. Wonder when they will come out of “beta”!

Hotmail sucks. I am also wondering why Gmail is still in Beta after 1+ years of being used…. Betas arent usually permanent stages for a product. lol.

Never had one single problem with Gmail. I use all of their SMTP and POP Services, along with SMS, Pop-up, and E-mail Notifications. Amazing Service. Period.

Gmail just cost me hours of work, entering information to send to my insurance company contacts, attaching files and photos, then it crashed. It let me enter infor for an hour and 15 minutes, crashed, and didn’t come back up for 2 HOURS!!! Google needs to start working toward making the reliable product they promised nearly 2 years ago when they advertised to get people to sign up! Thanks gmail! You a**hole!

Charlie, Charlie… you are one sad human being !Gmail/Google never said you have to use their products. It was always optional. Besides, crashings you mentioned are such a nonsense, better check your system for viruses that are probably crashing your browser. You should learn your manners first and then go in public and start cursing… because it seems like that’s the only thing you really know.

Okay, I would not say that Windows Live Hotmail was really good, because it really is not the best. I think if you’re referring to the old MSN Hotmail then maybe. But, if you have been with Hotmail since like 2002 when it was still MSN Hotmail, you would still have Outlook Access (http) which Windows Vista Has Removed, with their new product called Windows Mail.Otherwise if you want reliable Hotmail you just need to download the Windows Mail (From ideas.live.com) Try it ;)

Hotmail is trash. Do you know how many deviant art accounts I’ve stolen due to their lackluster security efforts? Jesus Christ, anybody using Hotmail and saying it’s great is really really stupid. Yahoo isn’t much better but at least they’re secured a lot better.

Video Game Consoles: Then and Now

I have been an avid video-game player since childhood, and used to spend entire days playing games like mario, tennis, pro-am, etc. Then came the computer, and it immediately replaced the gaming consoles for me. I started with the old DOS games like cat, para-trooper, bricks on a good old hercules “soft white” monitor. They were replaced with more graphic games like gpcga, indy, prince of persia, F15 Flight Simulator, and then by the great 3d games like wolf, doom, duke, sim-city, warcraft, and the list goes on and on. There were always the PS1, dreamcast, etc. consoles, but they never got big in India.

Then I came to US to study, and got myself a nice XBOX as soon as I graduated. However, surprisingly, I never caught on to it as i was on the older games, they were all the same games with slightly more bells and whistles. The XBOX controller was same as the original nintendo controller, just with more buttons on it. No fundamental change (well, except the online gaming stuff). And before I could fully utilize it, all is upgraded again. We now have the XBOX 360 out in market, with PS3 and Nintendo Revolution following.

These new consoles are a major upgrade to the existing ones in all aspects, processor, memory, graphics capability, etc. However, there is still no fundamental change in XBOX and PS3, they are just beefier now. They are super-hyped for their graphics capability, I wonder if it actually makes the gameplay better.

Talking about innovation, the Nintendo Revolution is the only one that has been designed “out of the box”. Nintendo always had the “less powerful” consoles, but always had the games focussed on more fun-factor and game play rather than graphics. With this new console, I have my full faith that they will be back on the top. You can check out this video to find out why its worth the wait.
